Long timers on the UK diabetes forum scene will no doubt remember the staunchly anti low carb dietitian known as Chris Cashin aka Ally5555. Low carbing diabetics faced scurvy, osteoporosis, bowel disorders and worse according to Cashin. Well the thick end of seven years on she is still defending the gospel according to the Eat Well Plate and kicking anyone who dares to criticise the failed dogma of the BDA and their ilk. Recently the dietitian I nick named sister scurvy was re tweeting BDA Chairperson Catherine Collins as you can see below. Some may remember my posts a few months ago referring to a twitter conversation I had with Collins, where she admitted the BDA have no dietary recommendations of their own. Evidently they just push the recommendations of Diabetes UK the diabetes charity.

If the BDA did not ooze such total arrogance, I might have some empathy for them, let's face it, what other so called 'professionals' have to live with such a high failure rate? Imagine a pilot that crashed his plane almost every-time he flies or a cab driver that junked his taxi three times a day. How would you answer that sort failure rate in your profession? How long would you last in your job, when the evidence of your total failure was there for all to see. Well, the BDA have some great get outs as Catherine told me in our conversation. "We can't stand over every patient watching what goes into there mouths" another great cop out is "the patient failed to comply" Do BDA dietitians comply with their own advice? if so, why are so many high profile BDA dietitians heavily over weight themselves.

I reckon many failed patients do comply, they stick to the letter of the very poor advice of the Eat Well Plate and so called "healthy balanced diet" I call the diet of slow death for diabetics. Dr. Aseem Malhotra is becoming a well known voice of sanity and common sense around the world, and the dietitians are rubbishing him at every opportunity, clearly the likes of the ex "resident dietitian" has learnt nothing over the last seven years.

It is so encouraging to see and hear Dr Malhotra. He certainly does have a high profile at present and as Sally commented yesterday in one of the other threads (Dr Aseem Malhotra says it like it is) he certainly is no lover of the 'Eatwell plate' in it's current form ... the Eat Well Plate and current nutritional advice is WRONG and is causing current epidemics.

    All the best Jan

Even some of the most abysmally poor managers (and I've met a few) would have difficulty justifying the continued employment of these people.

I think the amount of carbs they eat has damaged their brain cell.

Christine Cashin Registered Dietition and Director of the BDA calls in the Police !

As some will remember, a few years ago, I could not post on the flog without my old nemesis Ally5555 commenting. Her record, if memory serves was four minutes after one of my posts.

As I have stated many times, I believe her posts have spread fear and alarm amongst the diabetic community. Using various names Ally 5555, sportdiet, Chris etc. she has rubbished low carb at every opportunity.

Sometime ago I received information that Ally 5555 was Christine Cashin. Just before Xmas, I phoned Chris to wish her a merry Xmas (no abuse, no threats) just to confirm she was Ally 5555. This she confirmed.

I used a mobile phone I very rarely use. Imagine my surprise tonight (eight months on) to find a message that came in today from a Cardiff Policeman called Hugh. He states he has received a complaint from a “Welsh female” evidently she has been described as a “Welsh Bint” ! Not my sort of vernacular, maybe a comment received, and posted, who knows. The Policeman is unavailable until Monday. But wants me to contact him.

As this phone has only been used a couple of times, I can only presume the “Welsh Female” is none other than my old nemesis Ally. I will of course contact the Policeman on Monday, and very much look forward to progressing this matter forward.

    I will keep you informed.

    First posted here http://thelowcarbdiabetic.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/christine-cashin-registered-dietition_10.html

Needless to say she blocked me from her twitter account as did Catherine Collins Chairperson of the BDA. Never once did I get a straight answer from the "resident dietitian".

BTW after contacting the Police it came to nothing, what lengths some will go to, to try and suppress the truth and close down the messengers of the low carb lifestyle.

Two Lawyers in my family and they welcome the chance to take on the BDA and other spreaders of fear and misinformation. How long before see a class action lawsuit against the likes of the BDA and DUK.

Someone who is eminently qualified in nutrition and dietetics would side with Dr Aseem's views is Dr Trudi Deakin RD who's credentials far exceed those of Catherine Collins.

Catherine Collins  colleague Christine Cashin RD AKA Ally5555  posted the following comment on the other forum:

"What do you miss from carbs - fibre ( that seems to be why constipation is a problem) folic acid and vit C ( pots) or and seratonin  which increase from carb consumption and makes you happy - that might account for the loss of a sense of humour in alot of low carbers ………”.

There you have it the key seems to be we Low Carb diabetics should be eating more potatoes Shocked
